Join George for a walk up and around The Wrekin, learn all the important landmarks and all the historical aspects of The Wrekin.
BTW: A fern ticket is the mythical permit to adventure on The Wrekin or
in its magical forest. Couples spotted leaving a dance at the Forest
Glen were asked. "Have you got your fern ticket?"

Official launch for Wrekin Friends
All Friends Round The Wrekin will be officially launched as an independent people's group at a special open meeting at the Charlton Arms Hotel in Wellington from 7.30 pm on Tuesday September 28, 2004.
Following a highly successful inaugural meeting last month at which more than 50 members of the local community volunteered their assistance, the organising team has developed a flexible structure for the group to maximise individual involvement.
This and an extensive activity plan will be presented at the meeting which will also be asked to agree a draft constitution to put the group on a sound legal footing.
All Friends Round The Wrekin chairman, George Chancellor explained that the group planned to focus its initial activities on four main areas - membership; fund-raising; representation; and information.
"We want to give as many people as possible from far and wide the opportunity to become involved in preserving The Wrekin and its surrounding area for the good of its communities, landscape, wildlife and heritage," he stressed. "Membership will be free, but we will be more than happy to receive any support in kind and donations towards running costs.
"Much of our initial activity will involve raising funds for the Shropshire Wildlife Trust-led bid to bring a substantial part of The Wrekin into public ownership. In parallel to this, we intend to put considerable effort into establishing the views of the people about The Wrekin and its future management, and representing these actively to its owners and managers. And we will be gathering together as much information as we can on The Wrekin and making this widely available through a special website, newsletter and leaflets.
"Our launch meeting is open to everyone, and we very much look forward to sharing our plans with as many people as we can, as well as introducing them to our working group co-ordinators and organisational team," George Chancellor added. "We intend this to be the first of many meetings around the county and beyond to reach everyone who shares a love of The Wrekin."
