All over bar the shouting?

Posted by Pat judson, 4/6/09 at 8:50:38 PM.

Greetings "all Friends", well, at long last, the point where local people, or groups, or Council, can influence the Public Inquirys Inspector has come, and gone.

We are now in the lap of the Gods.

Todays summing up of the cases presented, by UKCoal, and all of us opposing their plan went well - and my personal thanks to all who came along to support Friends of the Ercalls last voice, and also the many, many, phone calls and eEmails in support of the cause.

Its been a long, hard fight, but I would not have missed it for the world - it has brought me into contact with so many nice people locally, and many from further afield as well, who have different beliefs, cultures, and views.

New avenues have opened by engaging with these people, and some friendships have formed that I hope last for many years.

To ALL who have been part of "Friends of the Ercall" - (including a couple who we had to boot out due to their views, ) I say "Thank you" for your commitment - in some cases this ended last November, as they could not take the pressure or commitment - no matter - you did your bit at the time to get things where we are to now.

Lets hope that the decision of the secretary of state, based upon the Inspectors report, is favourable to those in opposition, and not to the appellant, and that the area remains as it has been for a number of years.

We look forward to a slower pace of life now, and will return to wandering the woods of the Ercall, litter picking, and enjoying the amenity.

I hope that many others will join us and our pathways cross at some point.

Friends of the Ercall will concentrate on the small group that now exists, and look forward to many outings  / visits to some of the sacred places of Britain, having just returned from a very private access to Stonehenge to see Sunrise last Monday.

Solstice at Mitchells Fold comes next - anyone who wants to join us is welcome, we aim to meet up around 8pm ish to see Sundown, and overnight to await Solstice Sunrise in the Stone Circle - last year was very good, I had gone to Cornwall to see it there, and saw nothing due to rain - those who stayed here, saw an awesome sundown / Sunrise, at the Fold.

I know that some folks will be accompanying "George the Elder" to the Wrekin for Solstice Sunrise , our best wishes to you from our hill to your hill !

I give you all our thanks for the support, letters, phone calls and e mails to the Council, planning Inspectorate, Government, in respect of opposition to Uk Coals planned mine, and I am proud to have been part of "Team Telford" that met the mining Giant head on.

Best wishes, Pat & Friends of the Ercall.
