Join George for a walk up and around The Wrekin, learn all the important landmarks and all the historical aspects of The Wrekin.
BTW: A fern ticket is the mythical permit to adventure on The Wrekin or
in its magical forest. Couples spotted leaving a dance at the Forest
Glen were asked. "Have you got your fern ticket?"

The boss speaks
The
plan’s also inappropriate because of the visual position of the field
as the lead up to the forest’s natural beauty and the presence of a huge
badger sett just inside the wood.
I have lost count of the times I have campaigned for the field to be left alone. At the moment I have not enough time or energy to mount an anti campaign so will you please do so? Enlist Ross of course and start by officially objecting. Contact Paul Kalinauckas, chair of All Friends Round The Wrekin and keen Labour man; also Steve Hooker of the Wrekin Friends website. Make sure the press and radio are with you. Inundate the councillors with letters, emails and everything. Ask if the Labour Party is now supporting a hereditary landowner against walkers (that should make them think). The fact is that at my age I have limited energy and it’s going on the Peace Garden and the RGS walk to which I am already committed. These two, with family ties and looking after myself, are taking all the enthusiasm I have. So this one is up to you young ‘uns. HELP! George [the really old dude with a beard]. Links to the storm over the donkey field
Here's the links. I ain't bothering to read them. There's a line, IMHO, and the Donkey field is it. No further. "No development on The Wrekin, whatsoever." Parking can be a problem on some days. Live with it. I do. Sometimes I can't park, I drive on and come back another day. Simple. Most weekdays, rainy days, early, it's easy to park; there's hardly a soul around. High days and holidays, it's a problem parking anywhere. If it becomes a problem with a tourist trap, they'll build a car park, an extension, for the businesses. It makes sense as an economic argument in other places. Here, there's just Tom selling cups of tea. 40 more cups of tea isn't going to fly him to Cuba. There isn't a business need for bringing in extra visitors. There isn't a health and safety issue either. Parked cars are dangerous, with children running around, as everywhere and anywhere on high days and holidays. At least narrowed lanes force motorists to drive slower. No, there isn't a real case at all for paving over paradise to put up a parking lot. This just politics. Land owner and Shropshire Wildlife Trust. Tit for Tat. Same old, same old. https://secure.telford.gov.uk/planning/pa-applicationsummary.aspx?ApplicationNumber=TWC/2012/0261 Supporting documents are at: https://secure.telford.gov.uk/planning/pa-documents-documents-public.aspx?ApplicationNumber=TWC/2012/0261
